The ground level track is around 1200 feet in length (1/4 of a mile) and follows a horseshoe shape travelling clockwise. The raised track follows the inside of the ground level track and runs in the opposite direction to the ground level track. The maximum line speed of the ground level track is 6 MPH. The raised track doesn't have an official speed limit as it isn't used for public running, so drivers on the raised track just stick to what they deem to be a sensible speed limit. The steepest gradient on the line is about 1 in 15 on the short stretch between the level crossing at the sheds and the turntable at the steaming bays.
